J — Light & Wave

How far does a thought travel before it fades?

My signature, turned into an antenna.

Thoughts merge, grow, vanish.
The farther they travel, the more they fade.

How it was made

About 240 tiny wave sources were placed along the strokes of my signature, a quarter wavelength apart, so each stroke radiates like a traveling-wave antenna. Their cylindrical waves were summed pixel by pixel: gold marks the crests, blue the troughs, and brightness the field strength. The loop is one full wave cycle. Physics set the interference and the nulls; I chose the color, the glow and the fade.

Undone

If AI can make every line perfect, is the tremble what makes it human?

The perfect line was drawn by an AI.
The trembling one is my hand.

It keeps trying to become perfect.
It keeps coming back to me.

How it was made

The trembling line is traced from my real handwritten signature. An AI smoothed it into perfect curves, then let it fall back to my hand. The melody is read off the signature itself: the higher the pen, the higher the note — clean when perfecting, lo-fi when returning.

Argmin

AI finds the same optimum for everyone. What is the worth of a path no one else walks?

2,400 AIs. One answer.
One hand. One path.

The optimum is the same for everyone.
The way there never is.

How it was made

Every particle runs real gradient descent on the landscape, and they all find the same minimum. The golden line is my handwritten signature, which ignores the slope. The particles’ tones collapse into one note as they converge.

Coexistence City

Can a human and a machine build one city without either being erased?

Not a single pixel added.

One human. One machine.
5,184 pieces, each used exactly once, rebuilt into a city.

How it was made

The human is me; the robot was imagined by an AI (ChatGPT). Both portraits were cut into tiles, and an optimizer decided where every tile goes — no copies, no recoloring, nothing left over. Every tile that lands plays a note: soft strings for the human, small metallic pings for the machine.
